Language Essentials Procedures for In-Person Clinic Visits

We hope you and your family safe and healthy during these uncertain times. 

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted our communities but, thankfully, California’s health mandates have helped to slow the spread of the virus.  

 

As we prepare for reopening our offices, we want you to know that we are taking all the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of our team as we begin to see patients in our practice. We are closely following the guidance on infection prevention from Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are implementing safety measures including frequent cleaning of the waiting room, front desk and exam rooms, adjusting the office layouts to allow for physical distancing, and supplying staff with personal protective equipment, including masks, face shields, and gloves. 

 

In addition, the following is an outline of the precautions we are implementing to our regular procedures: 

  • Masks or face coverings will be required for all patients and staff entering our office, except for children under 2 years of age (if at all possible).

  • Temperature and symptom checks will be done for all clients, caregivers and staff upon entering the office with a non-contact infrared thermometer.  Anyone with a reading of 100.0 degrees F, or greater, will not be seen for therapy.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the office for use by patients and staff.

  • Our waiting room will remain closed for seating.Clients will be contacted while waiting in their autos via text to come into the clinic where they will be greeted by their therapist.

  • Generally, all sessions will be the same amount of time as they have been in teletherapy schedules.

  • We are limiting the number of therapists at each office.Session start times will be staggered to limit contact passing through hallways and .Due to limited scheduling available, clients may be assigned to a different therapist than they have had in the past.

  • Clients and therapists will be required to wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before and after each session.

  • Shared materials will be limited.Therapy materials used will be mostly disposable/single use (paper-based activities & games, crafts, verbal games using body movements and objects that can be cleaned – chairs, tables, etc). If toys are needed for the child’s age/ability level, parents will be encouraged to bring toys from home that can be used in therapy and immediately returned to the family.Some hard-plastic toys may be used but will be immediately removed from the therapy room after the session and thoroughly cleaned before using again.No soft, plush, or otherwise difficult to clean toys will be used at this time.

  • Therapists will be assigned to individual therapy rooms as temporary offices to increase social distancing and limit close contact between staff members.

 

These precautions will remain in place until further notice.
